The primary target groups include elected representatives of local governments, public administration staff, city networks, as well as human rights professionals and practitioners from think tanks, academia, and civil society.

The Academy and Conference also welcome representatives of international and regional organisations, businesses, as well as funders and potential investors interested in supporting local governments in strengthening human rights accountability.

The event welcomes young professionals and emerging practitioners, including students, trainees in public administration, those at an early stage of their careers, and professionals seeking to transition into a new field or role related to human rights and local governance.

Human Rights, democracy, rule of law, good governance, peace and development shall be pursued by all levels of government. As the role of human rights in local governance continues to grow, so does the need for professionals with relevant expertise within municipalities and local administrations.

The Academy’s ambition is nothing less than to create a job market for human rights professionals at the start of their careers. Join us to learn more about concrete opportunities from mentors working in various settings, including local authorities, civil society and international organisations.

The Academy is designed to be as interactive as possible within an online format. We consider the online format the most inclusive way to enable the global exchange of knowledge and expertise. In our experience, direct communication in one language best serves this objective. We have therefore chosen English as the lingua franca.

AI-based interpretation services have so far not met our requirements. Another important condition for our joint effort is confidentiality. For this reason, we use BigBlueButton, hosted on our own secure servers.
